Hurricane Irma

Wow what a week we had last week.  We were glued to the weather channel to see where Hurricane Irma was going  to reach land.  It looked like it was headed for the east coast of Florida and we live in Vero Beach on the east coast.  My friend June and her husband Ed invited us to go with them to her son's house in Lakeland on the west coast.  We left home at 4:30 am Friday morning and it took us 4 hours to get to Lakeland which typically takes 2 hours.  So many people were evacuating from our side of the state.   After we arrived and got everything settled June and I decided to go shopping (really we weren't in a storm now right?)

Then out to dinner with our husbands to Harry's (yummy food)  I forgot what this was called except GOOD.

Ed woke us up early the next day to tell us we had to pack up and leave, the storm had changed directions to the west coast (where we were). We got on the road and did not see hardly any traffic.  We did see these National Guard Units gassing up to get on the road to be ready to help where ever needed.

We got home on Saturday morning and kept an eye out on the news until the storm started and we lost power.  I read a whole book "Twelve Days of Christmas" by Debbie Macomber, who happens to be one of my favorite authors.  We were using the lantern and some flashlights to read by.  I decided I wanted to stamp since I had lantern light I could do that.  A girl has to do what a girl has to do, RIGHT?!?  My husband took my picture and put it on facebook I love his caption:

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night" can keep Frances from working on her Stampin' Up! projects during Hurricane Irma. Here she is working by the light of a Coleman lantern during our power outage. I couldn't help but admire her work ethic while Irma raged outside. LOL

Below is the project I was working on.  I had given my team a challenge to sell $1000 in August and I will send them a gift.  We are always using pearls on our projects and I thought instead of just sending them the package of pearls I would make a cute topper for it and would have it ready when the hurricane  was over.

I used the new Painted Harvest stamp set. It is one of my favorite fall sets.  Item #144783
check it out on my website here!

Thank goodness the storm was over on Monday plus our power is back on, when so many people were without power plus we did not have a lot of damage and felt so blessed.

Thanks for stopping by!
