Great week and a new card................

I have had a whirlwind week, we got an offer on our house in North Carolina and we went to Florida to look for a place and were so blessed to have found a place that suits us just fine and now the work begins.  We are downsizing and I am retiring from my day job and guess what??!?! I get to be a Stampin UP Demo full time............ I am so excited.  This has been my dream and my goal for a long time now.

I finally took some time to make a card, using the By The Tide set and I used the shaving cream technique. (the cheap dollar store type of fine to use) I have not used this technique in a couple of years and thought the fish would look nice with it.  I wanted to use pool party and lucky limeade but I did not have those refills so I used tempting turquoise and old olive.  I cased the placement of the stamps from Yvette Ash, thank you Yvette for your inspiratin, I loved the way yours turned out.

In case you do not know how to use the shaving cream technique.  It is so easy but a little messy.  You put shaving cream in a flat container. I used my large powder pal  but normally I used a foam tray from the grocery store that I have saved.  Then you decide on your colors and ramdomly place several drops of ink refills of each color on top of the shaving cream.  Use a plastic fork in a zig zag motion to blend the colors into each other.  Not too much and let a little white show through.

Then lay your whisper white cardstock on top of the shaving cream and pick it up and take a squeegee to wipe the shaving cream off.  (the messy part)  you may have to use a paper towel to completely clean off the shaving cream.  You can use the same shaving cream 2 or 3 times on new whisper white piece of cardstock, then it gets a little muddy.  Set aside and let it dry.  Then I stamped the fish with black stazon and cut out the fish and mounted it with dimensionals on the whisper white cardstock after I stamped the rest of the card.

Of couse you could use the whole card as a background. I love to use this technique for a sky using only one color of blue depending on what suits my fancy that day!

I will be teaching this technique to my classes next month.  Contact me if you would like a hands on class.

More My Digital Studio projects

This is the cover for my swatch book I started in my MDS on line class I have been taking.

I love the torn edge feature.

Below is another snow page.  Don't they look cold?  I used the recolor tool to make the stamped dog on the snow look more like Sophie around the face area..

If you have purchased MDS from me contact me for a free lesson.  If you liked MDS original you will LOVE MDS 2 so many more bells and whistles.  If you have never thought about scrapping digitally go to my website for a free 30 day trial and see what it is all about.  Click HERE to get to my site.Contact me if you have any questions. 919-334-8800

My Digital Studio - Swatch Book

Some of you may know that I have been taking a MDS class for the last 6 weeks and I am loving it.  I am learning so much.

I have been working on this swatch book in MDS for my class, for Jacob (my grandson) for the year 2011.  I had started this about a year ago and it was mostly background color and a picture and some text.  I just could not get interested.  Since I have been taking Amy's class I am excited to start again. I love working with all the new bells and whistles MDS2  offers.

If you want to have this much fun go to my website and you can download MDS2 for FREE for 30 days. I will be glad to help you with it. I already gave a class to one on my customers Renee' last week and she loved it.  She was making a birthday card for her grandson.  There are so many possibilities.  I saw the word snow on the mds website and cased that part.  Love the snowflake instead  of the O.

Spring Wreath & MDS

I finally made a spring wreath for my front door (it was March 1st and I still had hearts on it).  I love spring and March has so many things going on, I think I covered it all Welcome Spring, Easter Cross, Shamrock, and Bunny.

I have to tell you I am having so much fun with my online MDS class from my upline Amy Johnson. I had to use it for this post.  I wanted to show you more than the one picture and thought MDS would be a great way to show you some of my process.  Plus I used one of my favorite colors (POOL PARTY)  that I will really miss in June.

Thanks for looking!

NEW Photopolymer Stamps

We’ve searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we’ve found it. We’re excited to announce that we now have wood-mount, clear-mount AND photopolymer stamps! The new photopolymer will be an addition to our stamp line and will appeal to all types of stampers. Our top-quality photopolymer has just enough give to create a perfectly stamped image every time and with the introduction of our firm-foam pads, let’s just say they’re meant for each other! Photopolymer stamps will also be unique, fun designs that will inspire you and provide more versatile options you may not see in our traditional wood- and clear-mount stamp options.
What makes them so great?
  • They’re entirely transparent for perfect placement every time!
  • They are durable. The photopolymer material is designed to last.
  • Can you say sticky? (Don’t worry; in a good way.) These stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks.
  • They’re age tested. They won’t yellow or cloud up over time.
  • They use FDA, food-safe material. How far can you stretch your stamping creativity?
  • We could go on, but we’ll let you try them for yourself.
They are clearly a great choice.
